Postby Zavulon » Jul 24 2010 1:10 pm

Hello all! Just wanted to know if palladium games has any kind of following in nw arkansas. I know it's not the most popular system but surely somone out there enjoys one of the games the system uses.

Anyway, if anyone does like it and wants to start a game drop me a pm.

Ask Chris next time you're at Castle House Games. I'm pretty sure he said he had at least one customer for Palladium, but I don't know who they are.

Why does everyone seem to hate Palladium anyways? I have not really looked into the system yet, but back a few months ago I suggested to my group's GM that we look at the old Robotech/Macross game. He loved that idea until I told him it was Palladium's system. Then he ran screaming from the room (not kidding).

For me, there's a couple of things. Siembieda is overly protective of his IP, with a long history of not letting anyone else even mention his games, let alone do anything with them, going back to before the internet. Ironic considering that the core system is basically a set of house rules for Dungeons & Dragons. While some of those house rules were actually quite innovative back when Palladium first started putting out books, now they're really showing their age.

That said, I don't hate Palladium, but neither do I include any of their games in the rather long list of those I'd be willing to play.

Yeah a big problem is that KS refuses to loosen the death grip on his copyright. It really only hurts him and his fans. To be honest I love the system and played rifts for two years straight. If you want to have a game or know somone who wants to run the system, let me know JDdan. I'd love to play and/or help. Later.

Where's Armaghn when you need him to chime in? He's got tons of Rifts experience.
